Hi All,

We use Sharepoint Foundation 2010.

An announcement list in a site collection is email enabled. The end users send an email with attachments such as ppt, pdf, doc, xls, zip to this Announcement List.

The users follow all the file naming conventions as listed here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/905231

Issue:

  • Some emails donot reach the list.
  • There is no definite pattern in the emails which donot reach the list.
  •  "Illegal Character in Path...", this is the error message that we receive in the log file.

Can you help me to resolve the issue?

It would be good to know if there is some kind of documentation which states the DOs and DON'Ts of sending emails to a list in Sharepoint.

Thanks for your help here.

Shruti

Could it be, that the missing mails have too long file names? There ist a limit of 255 characters that includes the whole path to the file:
http://sharepoint/sites/website1/Lists/Announcements/VeryLongFilename.zip

PS: normally we speak (write) German here :-)

Viele Grüße
Andi

Hi Andi,

Thanks for your reply!

I know that you speak German , :) but no where while  joining the SharepointCommunity.de is mentioned that you can only post questions in German or donot join if you cannot speaak / write german.Lets not make technology a slave of linguistics.

Cheers
